A busy month for GSC
A GSC-team, consisting of a Salvage Master and a Naval Architect, was sent out for a refloating operation of a general cargo vessel which ran aground on the Magdalena River, near Barranquilla, Colombia. Directly after successfully refloating the vessel, the team assisted in the refloating of another vessel which also ran aground on the same river. In a timeframe of only eight days the team arrived home fulfilling both jobs.

GSC was appointed to advise a Crisis Management Team for an engine break down / emergency tow of a Chemical Tanker in the English Channel.

GSC SCR appointed for stricken bulk carrier in strait Dempo, Indonesia.

August
GSC provided a Salvage Master to a Greek salvage company. The salvage master was mobilised to Denmark, where he went onboard of a ungeared bulk carrier which ran aground near Frederikshavn.
Tanker laden with 93000 tons of gasoline grounded in the port of Merak, Indonesia. A GSC Salvage Expert was called in from our Singapore office to assist the Owners with the refloating attempt, which was successfully executed after some internal shifting of cargo and ballast water.

In September GSC assists in two continents
On the 21st September 2011 GSC assistance was provided to a Owner of a chemical tanker with engine room problems in the Indian Ocean.
On 25th September a GSC salvage master left for Kenya to assist in a salvage operation of a general cargo vessel. The vessel loaded with steel bars and coils was attacked by armed pirates on two skiffs approximately 180 nautical miles east- south-east from Mombasa, Kenya. The vessel was set on fire after a failed piracy attempt on 20 September 2011.

Swedish Club appoints one of GSC's SCR for salvage operation Tauranga.
On 6th October 2011 one of our SCR's was appointed by the Swedish Club as SCR for the salvage operation of a container vessel which ran aground about 12 nm from Tauranga, on the east coast of New Zealand's North Island.
