Last GSC Special Casualty Representative leaving New Zealand.

After 182 days, Special Casualty Representative - Mr. Zandee departs from Tauranga. GSC has been involved from the onset of the grounding until the termination of the LOF – SCOPIC contract by providing two SCR's. Salvors Svitzer Salvage B.V. from The Netherlands signed the contract with the Owners of the vessel on the 6th of October 2011, the first day that a GSC SCR attended the vessel. The RENA LOF SCOPIC contract is believed to be the longest SCOPIC case since the introduction in 1999 of this Clause.

Salvage Expert engaged in grounded bulk-carrier.

A GSC Salvage Expert was contracted by Underwriters for a grounded bulk-carrier off the coast of Tunisia


July

GSC deploys a Salvage Master for a chemical tanker on fire.

GSC assisted Salvors during the fire on board a Chemical Tanker in the port of Labuan, Malaysia by providing a Salvage Master


September

Busy month for GSC

Chemical Tanker aground in Indonesia: GSC mobilized a Salvage Expert to assist during the refloating operation.

One week later a bulk-carrier grounded in Selat Sunda a GSC Salvage Master was deployed to conduct an Inspection and made his recommendation to the Salvage Company.

Furthermore, the South African based SCR was appointed for a LOF SCOPIC case related to a container vessel on fire in the Indian Ocean


October

GSC setting foot on Japanese ground.

For the first time since its existence, GSC was requested to provide a Salvage Consultant to assist the P&I Club in a grounding case near Omeazaki port in Japan. The vessel ran aground after it was hit by Typhoon no 21 by the end of September and could be classified as a typical "Typhoon Casualty". Several salvage attempts were made by a local salvage company but only the off-loading of the cargo resulted finally in a successful floatation of the casualty.

GSC opens office in Taipei

GSC beeldmerk logoGSC opens an office in Taipei to better serve its clients in Northeast Asia. The office will be headed by Julian Lee, who has been a GSC partner since 2018 and started his career in this field as a commercial and operational senior executive for an internationally operating salvage company in Singapore. He achieved an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, Phoenix, US and is a native Mandarin speaker. 

 

In addition to Julian, GSC has employed Neil Lin, as a Salvage Surveyor. He brings a decade of experience with local salvage, wreck removal and offshore experience to the team. For instance, he was involved in the salvage of the MV MORNING SUN, THOR ACE and the SANCHI, to name but a few. Lin is also a native Mandarin speaker.
