MV THOR MONADIC | Aground in the entrance channel of Doula port, Cameroon

Whilst entering the port of Doula, laden with clinker, the vessel grounded on the 8th of March. Owners and Underwriters appointed GSC Salvage Consultant from South Africa to assist. The vessel refloated without any tug assistance.

JBB RONG CHANG | Capsizes off Batu Bahar, Malaysia 

The vessel, a suction hopper dredger, capsized whilst performing dredging operations off Batu Pahat, Malaysia on the 21st of March. The vessel was towed by local tugs to the coast line. China based Salvors Guangzhou Salvage were contracted to parbuckle the vessel and redeliver her in a floating condition. GSC was appointed by the P&I Insurers to provide technical assistance.


GSC teams continue to be heavily involved in both China and Chile.

GSC opens office in Taipei

GSC beeldmerk logoGSC opens an office in Taipei to better serve its clients in Northeast Asia. The office will be headed by Julian Lee, who has been a GSC partner since 2018 and started his career in this field as a commercial and operational senior executive for an internationally operating salvage company in Singapore. He achieved an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, Phoenix, US and is a native Mandarin speaker. 


In addition to Julian, GSC has employed Neil Lin, as a Salvage Surveyor. He brings a decade of experience with local salvage, wreck removal and offshore experience to the team. For instance, he was involved in the salvage of the MV MORNING SUN, THOR ACE and the SANCHI, to name but a few. Lin is also a native Mandarin speaker.
