MV APL VANCOUVER | GSC appointed by H&M Underwriters

The casualty, a 9,200 TEU capacity container vessel built in 2013, encountered a cargo fire whilst in transit from Shekou to Singapore on the 31st of January. Salvors Ardent were contracted and signed a LOF salvage contract with the Owners. A Senior Salvage Consultant from The Netherlands office was immediately mobilised to Vung Tau, Vietnam and boarded the casualty. Once the fire was under control the casualty could proceed to Singapore where all containers were discharged in the Brani Terminal.

MV POWER STAR

The vessel, a 1990 built bulk carrier, made contact with the quayside and another vessel while anchored off Noro, New Georgia Island, Solomon Islands on the 15th of February. A GSC Salvage Surveyor was appointed by the H&M Underwriters to conduct the on site damage inspections.

MV EFE MURAT

The casualty, a general cargo vessel built in 1977, dragged anchor and beached on a breakwater of Bari beach, Italy, on the 23rd of February. Owners contracted Greek Salvors Mega Tugs and signed a LOF salvage agreement. Salvors immediately invoked the SCOPIC Clause and subsequently a SCR from The GSC Netherlands office was mobilised. Salvors managed to refloat the casualty and deliver her safely alongside.
